Garbage gut is back….

Well it is safe to say that Dixie is back to normal! Her tummy is feeling much better and she is back to being insanely rambunctious and somewhat out of control at times! haha she can be such a crazy dog! but is well behaved at the same time…

I made some amazing chocolate chip banana bread the other day and i thought it would be nice bring half of the huge loaf to my dad. So Matt and i went out to my parents farm for a visit! We went to look at all the water standing from the big rain and how crazy flooded some of my dads fields were…it was really sad:(

when we returned home to Hanley Falls to our house we let dixie out to pottie and then put her inside. meanwhile we stood outside and talked to the neighbor for a bit. Maybe 10 minutes later we came in and dixie was laying on her bed in the corner of the living room like a good little girl. About a half hour later i walked into the kitchen and looked at the counter, i said, “Matt where did you put the banana bread” he replied, “I didn’t touch it”

We had left the banana bread on the stove to cool off with just a light towel over it. The towel was on the ground and the banana bread was nowhere to be found……. Dixie began to look very guilty! NAUGHTY GIRL!!!

it took us a little bit, but then we laughed!:)

She also ate two subway cookies today that she found on the counter! She loves chocolate just as much as i do!:)

Oh what a garbage gut puppy we have….she was literally just digging in the garbage 2 seconds ago…..

Dixie Girl is sick….

I found it funny yesterday morning that Dixie did not want to get out of bed. I didn’t think much of it and just thought maybe she was tired. She tends to sleep a lot I think. When we leave in the morning we put her in the kennel in our garage and I think she sleeps/rests for most of the day. Her kennel is big enough if she wanted to play with some toys, but we are pretty sure she doesn’t.

So….she continued to lounge around when I was home and I knew she wasn’t feeling good. Her eyes are very easy to read. Fortunately for me, my mom works at the new Animal clinic in Cottonwood! Lakeside Companion Animal Clinic. I love the vet, Stacy Lewison and her crew there. They are so good at what they do and always very friendly. Needless to say Dixie has been there a lot. She is what you could call a problem child…..or simply accident prone.

Dixie had worms when we got her as a puppy and that led from one problem to the next…

Stacy calls her a garbage pit! She eats EVERYTHING! And I mean literally….

So we think that’s what happened again, so I took her in this morning and they did an X-ray of her tummy…It looked really gassy and just full in general. SO, Dixie got some medicine and we went home…hoping she is better tomorrow!

It is such a beautiful morning! i love waking up and hanging out with my sleepy pets. they take a while to get going in the morning just like humans do sometimes!

Dixie likes to wake up at around 5;30 and eat breakfast…so thats annoying. but once we feed her and let her go potty, she comes right back into bed and cuddles with us very nicely…then she likes to get up around 8. well today i made her get up at 7 and she was not impressed. The kitty on the other hand, seems to always laze around! Dusty was wide awake this morning and wanted to go outside to play this morning. so i let dusty kitty out the front door to play in the grass and under our deck. He is so funny because we just started letting him go outside so he is so shy but curious about everything outdoors. He loves watching the birds and catching bugs the most. he sits on the steps and smells the air. when Dusty wants to come in, he meows by the door until i open it.

I was hesitant to let him outside because we live in town and i don’t want anything to happen to him. But he just loves it so much that i had to! it worries me, but if he meows by the door when he wants to come in that makes me feel better!

Oh how i love my pets and being able to spend some bonding time with them these last 10 days. Today marks 2 weeks since my surgery so I’m feeling better and hoping to go back to work on Friday!

 

 

One spoiled PuP

Dixie Girl is one heck of a spoiled puppy! Although she is almost 9 months old, she still has a lot of puppy in her! in the photo, she is on the couch with Matt and I. We recently bought new furniture, so we decided the snuggling on the couch had to stop. She knows now that she is NOT allowed on the couch…:( she was sad for a while, and so was I to be honest! ha she is so fun to cuddle with and she just loves to be as close to us as possible.

I like to Call Dixie “Velcro” because its like she sticks to us wherever we go! If we are in one room of the house, so is she. If we walk outside she has to follow. She is spoiled in many ways. She gets treats a lot whenever we are home. We like to make her work hard for her treats though! We always make her sit, stay, shake, lay down, heal, or go in her kennel before she gets a treat.

Dixie sleeps with us every night! UGH! some nights she is really good, and other nights she is NOT! We go back and forth all the  time about letting her sleep with us, but we always give in when she lays her head on the edge of the bed and looks at us with her big brown eyes! Talk about One Spoiled PuP!

A Lazy Kitty kinda day….

Dusty kitty, oh what a life he has. I feel like him recently…due to my recovery after surgery. We lay around and take long peaceful naps together…..he is a great nap buddy!:)

When i first saw dusty i called him “A little gray mouse kitty”

 

Isn’t he cute! oh it was love at first site when he was just a 4 week old baby!

Dusty has a mind of this own…and sometimes doesn’t like to be bothered. He will bite me and want to play and chase my feet other times, but only when HE wants to play. Cats are unusual in that way. they want what they want. they are very independent and don’t need attention all the time like a dog. It balances our lives out with Dixie and Dusty….you see, one is a full time job at home….the other is a whenever i get hungry kinda pet, when it comes to needing attention! Dusty will meow when he needs some food…other than that he is not very vocal.

Dusty and Dixie do a LOT of rolling around, or should i say “Rough Play”. the dog growls and the cat hisses….and they roll around in a ball on the floor…its very entertaining. Ill have to post a video sometime….Once again…its the life of CatDog

 

 

A Gentle Monster

 

Dixie is such a gentle, yet hyper dog. She has so much energy, that gets a little out of control at times, but yet she tries so hard to be good and calm for us. She always wants to please us and get rewarded with treats!

I had surgery one week ago today, on an artery in my stomach that needed to be repaired. So it was a pretty major surgery, and i was worried about coming home to a hyper active puppy who jumps around and runs around our feet! Dixie did so good and right away she knew i was sick and in pain. It was like she read my mind. I came in and she walked slow around me and is very gentle when she approaches me now! It was so crazy to see her change when i came home. She is hyper around Matt for sure and he has been playing with her lots!

It makes me sad though, because she kinda ignores me now…..she only wants matt because he is the “fun” one now…..Recovery is going okay, but slow. She will soon be back to jumping all over and running around in the house once she can sense that i am feeling better again.

Meet Dusty!

This is Dusty! he is a one of a kind kitty cat!  This picture was taken when he was just a baby! i rescued him when he was 4 weeks old!

Dusty was born August 10th. He is still a baby to me, but is growing bigger every day! It is kinda fun for my boyfriend and i to start out with pets to take care of! My parents say its preparing us for children someday!:) haha but then we just laugh!

Dusty loves to play with Dixie, and sometimes it is hard to tell who is the mean one! they wrestle a LOT! dusty usually ends up soaking wet with slobber, yet he is the one who demands to play with the big girl dixie! We laugh at them a lot and they entertain us daily!

He is your typical lazy cat and loves to play with mice, lasers, cat nip and strings but his favorite of all is Dixie.  When he cuddles he likes to suck on our shirt. Matt thinks it is gross but I see it as his way of showing affection.  He loves to snuggle and cuddle except when he is hungry.  Then he meows until he gets his food.  Sometimes Dixie and Dusty are enemies but deep down I think they are best friends.

Meet Dixie!

Meet Dixie Girl! she is our Baby..and i mean literally! she is the most spoiled puppy i have ever had. She was born on September 7th….which makes her 8 months and 2 weeks old. I grew up on a farm which always meant dogs belong OUTSIDE!

Dixie made her way to our house around 12 weeks old. it was NOT my idea to get a puppy. My Boyfriend (Matt) found her on Facebook and could not resist! (he is a softy for puppies). She ended up being the Best Christmas Present i have ever received!

Dixie has a lot of energy! which is expected of her breed. Being a German Shorthair Pointer means having a thin body, long legs,  tons of energy and an amazing natural in-stink to hunt!

Dixie was one of 7 puppies and sadly only 3 of them lived! I am so thankful for our rambunxious, googely eyed pup!:)

How we came up with her Name you ask>? Well, Matt and i threw around a lot of names…..and keep in mind we are country music lovers! so that being said, Danielle Bradbery, winner of the Voice last season, had her new song out called “The Heart of Dixie”. And that was THAT!
